Making a Simple Design in the Oriental Manner!

Create
a simple
design "
In the Oriental
Manner " by
using a few well chosen materials.
The
greenery can
be gathered in a home
garden.
By adding two stems of * "Reflexed"
tulips,
a quick-&-easy design can become an
appealing
accent for the home.A minimum of
flowers
makes the maximum impact best.
Step 1
Begin by
affixing the small needlepoint in an
off center position, to the bottom of the container. The
container
should be clean & dry. The container can be ceramic, or
plastic
as the one shown in the photograph.
Step 2
Insert the umbrella palm to establish the tallest
line, placing slightly to the back and left in the needlepoint.
Step 3
Next, place the tulips into the needlepoint,
to the left of the umbrella palm, and in front, with the shortest stem
in front & to the left of the 2nd tulip stem. Place the two
stems
of the philodendron to the right of the design, for asymmetrical
balance,
with the top one about two thirds of the way to the top of the tallest
tulip, and the bottom stem low in the arrangement.
Step 4
Complete the design by adding the 3 sprigs of
sprengerii to conceal the mechanics (the needlepoint), and to add
textural
interest. Sprinkle the river rocks in for contrast in color and
texture,
and to add an earthy accent with Eastern flair.
Tips
Be careful when inserting plant materials onto
the needlepoint. The points are sharp. The container, needlepoint
and stick-em can be purchased at most floral supply and craft stores,
or
from a florist. Remember to add water to the container, and to add more
water each day or so, as needed. The design can be misted occasionally;
and, if this is done, the design will last longer.
* Note
Tulips
can be reflexed by simply rolling each
petal outward, using a gentle touch, giving the tulip the look of an
anemone.
If done care- fully, the tulip will remain in this position for
as
long as the design lasts.
