and foliage combine well in a design that's suited for a casualsetting,
luncheon or other spring gathering of friends andfamily. Also,
this design could add a splash of color on akitchen counter, to spice
up the area. Very few flowers are needed, and all foliage came from the yard, and is readily availablein most home gardens. By using clay pots, combining them with a rustic wooden"trug" typebasket, or box. the design comes together easilyand quickly. Making thedesign: Place the large block of wet foam into the wooden box, wedgeing in snugly. Then, on top of it, place three clay pots, at angles. One shouldface forward, to right, slanting outward to the right. Then, another corresponding onthe back side, facing outward, tothe left. And, then place a smaller one just to the left of the first one you placed. Just place closely beside it. Or, justplace them in a fashion that looks appealing.
Use the bamboo skewers anchored down into the large foamblock, and
going through the holes in the bottom of the claypots...this will
attach the pots. Then, you stick two smaller blocks of WET foam onto those skewers, inside the pots. You can then place the apples on top of the large block offoam, using the bamboo skewers. Bamboo
skewers are available from the grocery store, in twothicknesses. The
thicker ones will work better. You may have to cutthem in half as you
do not need the entire length to go down into the dry foam. Attach the bunch of grapes to a skewer using a small thinwire. Then insert itinto the foam. If you want to, youcould wrap floral tape around the skewer, to make it look neat. Notnecessary, though.
Insert stems of the various kinds of greenery into the largeblock of
foam, under the edges of the apples and pots, trailing outwardto the
sides, and tucking in there and there, Fill in holes with moss. Cut flower stems short, and tuck them into the foam, in eachpot. Put tiny springs of greenery among the flowers, to hide the foam. Use ONEtype of flower in each pot...that looks best.
It is easy to set up the pots in the container...remember,just secure
with bamboo skewers pushed through the drainage holes downinto the
foam. Then, with the smaller foam blocks placed inside thepots., you're
READYTO GO !!
You just want the impression to be that the materials arespilling out,
in a casually, and appealing way. This arrangement wouldcost practially
