A CONVERSATION PIE-CE

Making a Flower Pie!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Start by baking a prepared pie crust shell, as per package instructions.

Optional:
to make crust lie very flat on bottom, could be lined with foil, then place a layer of
beans on the bottom, to remain there as it bakes.

Line inside with saran, tinfoil or floral foil.

Place low, slightly mounded "slabs" of soaked Floral Foam in bottom of shell to
form the base of the "pie".

Insert flowers which have been cut to about 2" long(the stems), after placing sheet
moss or Spanish moss over the surface of the foam. If preferred, tuck in bits of the
moss after inserting the  flower stems to hide the foam. Do whichever seems easier.

Create a Biedemeir type circlet of flowers by placing the stems in concentric circles
 around the "pie".

Choose flowers in colors and types that will complement your table appointments and
the color themes of your party or special occasion.

Used here:
 1) rust-colored mums
 2) alstromerias
 3) "Leonid" roses

In the center of the pie, insert a small length of ribbon in the color of your choice,
that has been gathered into a short "streamer" onto a wood pik

After completion, "serve" on a glass plate stand.

Use as a decorative accent for a dessert presentation on a buffet table, or placed
among the desserts for any occasion and setting.
