Turn terra cotta pieces into a
tabletop "faux" bird bath, with a few
simple
steps. A charming decorative accent piece that could hold potpourri
or wrapped candies on a table or vanity top. Brings the garden indoors,
and just seems to say, "Spring is in the Air". Two
feathered friends perch to take an imaginary drink.... a project that
is
quick, easy, and requires a minimum of materials.

Materials:
Two "mushroom" birds(available at craft stores), three yards
each
of three colors and types of narrow ribbon, a stem of dried German
statice,
three or four freeze-dried roses. Hot or low temp glue gun/glue sticks,
or
glue pot and glue "pillows". A clay pot, and a clay saucer.
Follow these
easy steps:
- With white glue or using the glue gun or glue pot, affix a
clay saucer
atop a clay pot, creating the "faux" bird bath. Leave natural, or spray
paint as desired.
- With narrow ribbon, create two small bows, combining two or
three
colors
and types of ribbon. Leave some ends of the ribbon dangling loosely to
give a "swag" effect, tumbling from the rim of the saucer down to the
edge
of the pot.
- Begin by glueing on the bows and "streamers" with the glue
gun.
Swirling
the ribbon gives a softening and artistic effect.
- Next, glue the two "mushroom" birds in place - one at the
top and one
at
the bottom. Position the birds looking toward one another, or away, as
desired.
- Tuck in bits of preserved greenery and German statice in
around the
birds.
A few freeze-dried roses placed in snugly next to the birds adds a
lovely
touch of color and form.
It's as simple as that! Use the colors of your choice, making sure
the preserved plant materials, ribbon and birds are in complementary
colors.
A great gift idea as a hostess or housewarming gift.
Works well as a Workshop Project at a group meeting.
A "Breath of Spring" for any decor!!
