Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. Scholarships are available for
individuals, circles, clubs, groups of clubs and districts.
Applications for all scholarships may be obtained by writing Scholarship Chairman or from
FFGC Web site
FFGC Youth Scholarship (FFGC Bylaws Article V, Section 4, #(4) (5) (6).
Wekiva Youth Camp, Sally Rahm Scholarships (2) for
students grades 3
through 8; each pays campership fees but not canteen fees:
student must be sponsored by a garden club or
circle; completed
application must be received by Scholarship Chairman between
January 1 and March 1.
S.E.E.K. Youth Conference,
Polly Moody Memorial Youth Scholarship and the Daytona Beach Garden
Club Youth Scholarship each provide a scholarship to S.E.E.K.
conference. Applicant must be enrolled in a Florida high school,
entering grades 10, 11, or 12 with minimum of “C” average grades;
sponsored by a garden club; completed application must be
received by Scholarship Chairman between January 1 and March 1.
FFGC COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
The following scholarships are offered to Florida residents with a
minimum of “B” GPA (3.0 and 4.0 scale) who are in need of
financial aid and are enrolled full time (unless specified otherwise)
in a Florida college. Must be a citizen of USA. Course of
study must meet garden club objectives. Completed application
must be received by Scholarship Chairman between January 1 and May
1. Committee determines which scholarship applicant will be
awarded. When requesting application, specify if entering
freshman or sophomore years as these have a different application from
junior, senior and graduate students. Amount shown is maximum
amount that may be awarded, however award may be less as determined by
scholarship committee each year:
AGRICULTURE, in memory of W. Reese Harris, $2,500, must be enrolled in College of Agriculture (Endowed).
BUTTERFLIES, in memory of Ella P. Wood, $2,500, offered only to graduate students.
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES, in
memory of Mary Jo Clayton Sanders, $3,500, major in environmental
issues including land management,
city planning, environmental control
or allied subjects. (Endowed)
GARDEN CLUB OBJECTIVES, in memory of Dr. Taylor Alexander, $2,500, major to be ecology or allied subjects.
GARDEN CLUB OBJECTIVES,
in memory of Agnes McIntosh, $2,500, major in ecology, horticulture,
landscape design, conservation, forestry, botany, marine biology, city
planning or allied subjects.
GARDEN CLUB OBJECTIVES, in memory of Velma Bernecker Gwinn, $2,500, . (See above list)
GARDEN CLUB OBJECTIVES,
In memory of Edna and James Crowl, $2,500, major in field of botany
with emphasis on research in and study of wildflowers and native
plants.
GARDEN CLUB OBJECTIVES,
In memory of Hazel Simmons Hodges, $2,500, High School Student entering
college as freshman or
student entering sophomore year, major in
ecology, horticulture, landscape design, conservation, forestry,
botany, marine biology, city
planning and allied subjects.
(Endowed) Preference will be given to students who were High School
Gardeners.
GARDEN CLUB OBJECTIVES, in honor of Bernese B. Davis, $2,500 (see above subject list). (Endowed).

GARDEN CLUB OBJECTIVES,
in memory of Elizabeth McCullagh, $2,500, limited to High School
student entering freshman year of
college, (See above list of subjects)
HORTICULTURE, in
memory of Dr. H. Harold Hume, $3,000; at discretion of Scholarship
Committee, one or more $1,500 grant may be
awarded; senior or
graduate student majoring in field of horticulture.
HORTICULTURE, in memory of Mildred Palmer, $2,500 – This is not perpetual and will expire after four awards.
HORTICULTURE, in
memory of Frances Anderson, $625, both part-time and full-time students
are eligible. – This is not perpetual and
will expire after four awards.
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, in memory of George Morrison, $2,500, major in Landscape Design Architecture enrolled full time in
Florida college.
NATIONAL GARDEN CLUBS INC. SCHOLARSHIPS:
National Garden Clubs Inc. offers to advanced students
thirty-two (32) scholarships valued at $3,500 each. Legal
residents of Florida with at least a “B” average (3.0 and 4.0 point
scale) enrolled full time in an accredited college (does not have to be
located in Florida) and in need of financial aid are eligible.
Scholarships are available to junior, senior or graduate students
majoring in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation,
forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control,
city planning, land management and/or allied subjects.
Application forms must be obtained through FFGC Chairman. Forms
available in September and completed form must be received by same
chairman before March 1. Florida is allowed to recommend two
students for NGC scholarships.
DEEP SOUTH REGION SCHOLARSHIP
A $1,000 scholarship is offered to a High School Senior in
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi or Tennessee to
attend college in one of the Deep South
states. Students must
pursue a course of study in a garden or environmental related
field. Applicants must have a “B” or better average and be in
need of financial aid. Application forms are available from FFGC
Chairman in the Fall and completed application form must be received by
same chairman no later than February 1.
APPLICATION FORMS
Application forms for all
FFGC Scholarships,

Wekiva Youth Camp
are obtained by writing Scholarship Chairman. Completed forms,
including applicant’s photo, transcript of grades, letter of
recommendation from garden club president, etc., must be received by
chairman by dates listed. These are reviewed by the Scholarship
Committee: Jane Meherg Chairman; Cinny O'Donnell, FFGC President; Mary
Anne Freyer; Marjorie Turner; Dottie Bishop and Beth Wilson.

Photographs are required with all applications.
1. Photo should be head and shoulders of applicant, alone
2. May be color or black & white but should be glossy
3. Prefer 3x5 or 4x5 taken with a good camera so it is clear and can be copied for
magazine publication or display: passport photos are accepted
4. School photos and commercial photographers copyright their
work and it cannot be copied re-copied by Scholarship Committee,
therefore we prefer that you not send such photographs with your application..
FLORIDA FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC.
Instructions for Scholarship Application
College scholarships are offered to High School Seniors (for college
freshman year), College Sophomore, Junior, Senior, and Graduate
Students who are Florida residents, citizens of USA, attending a
Florida college or university. Applicant must be enrolled full
time, have a “B” (3.0) or better average and be in need of financial
aid. Applications are accepted March 1 to May 1. Applicants
may receive only one FFGC scholarship. Major course of study to
be in following areas: Agriculture, biology botany, butterflies,
city planning conservation, ecology, forestry, horticulture, landscape
design/architecture, wildflower4s and allied subjects)
Scholarship Application Must Include the Following:
1. Completed application form, including your mailing address and
address of the college of your choice.
2. A copy of applicant’s complete official academic
transcript. Records must include the latest grading period.
Graduate students must
include the transcripts of both
graduate and
undergraduate work.
3. A completed Statement of Financial Needs form.
4. A personal letter from you, the applicant, discussing your background, goals and interests.
5. A “head and shoulders” photo (black and
white or color) as described under item “E” on the preceding page
(“General Informaiton for
Scholarship applicants").
6. Letters of recommendation from three or more
instructors in your high school; a civic or religious leader in
your community; and any
other recommendations
(work-related).
7. A list of extra-curricular activities and honors.
