Lake
City installed a "Blue Star Memorial Marker" at the Lake City VA
Medical Center on May 25, 2007. It was a beautiful day and a
lovely
presentation. Present for the ceremony were; Linda Jones,
President
Lake City Garden Club, Inc., Judy Greenbury (former District V
Director, George Ward, Councilman, District 14 City of Lake City, Joan
Langfor Buchanan, Principal Financial Group Representative, the key
speaker Cecil "Ronnie" Ash, Vietnam veteran, Military Order of the
Purple Hearts, chapter 772. Your director was proud to lay a
beautiful
wreath donated by Wanda Toner, Hydrangea Circle, Lake City Garden Club
in memory of Eugene A Toner, Sr., USAF. We are very proud to be a
part of these dedication and hope to be invited for future one.

Did
you know that Blue Star Memorial Markers are placed along our US
Highways to honor everyone serving in our military whether or not they
have fought in any wars.

Lake City Garden Club is looking forward to hosting the District V
meeting on Oct 9, 2007 in Lake City. I hope all of you make plans to
attend this meeting. I realize for some of you this is a bit of a trip,
however, if you are interested, I will get together a list of places to
stay if you want to come in the day before.One highlight at the meeting
will be meeting our President and Officers. This will be a meeting of
fun, however, also of education. I look forward to seeing you all
there.
