Several members of Lakes and Hills, led by LeeAnn Conger, participated
in helping to build and landscape the home. (Many other
women participated in the project, also.) All the circles of
Lakes and Hills, as well as many individual members, made financial
contributions to the project. The home was built for Arcolia
Wakefield, a single mother and teacher.
The Women Build program was established by Habitat for Humanity to
encourage the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat
homes. More than 450 Habitat homes have been built by women crews
in the U.S.
