SEEK (Save the Earth’s Environment through Knowledge) is an annual environmental conference for high school students sponsored by the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs.  Each summer, 70 students from across the state attend the outstanding 4-day conference.  Students entering grades 10, 11, or 12 are eligible to attend.

The SEEK Conference focuses on today’s critical environmental issues:
•    Climate change, energy conservation, alternative energy, & sustainability
•    Water quality & quantity  (water pollution & water conservation)
•    Loss of wildlife habitat due to deforestation and development
The conference also promotes student initiative and leadership.

SEEK 2008 will be held at Wakulla Springs State Park, located in the Big Bend of Florida near Tallahassee.  This gem in the State’s Park System features one of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world, pristine natural areas, and an abundance of wildlife.

2008 Conference Sessions
July 6-9:  For all current 11th graders and 10th graders who attended SEEK previously.
July 13-16:  For all current 9th graders and 10th graders who are attending for the first time.

Registration for SEEK 2008 begins January 1.  Garden clubs (with help from high school science teachers) recruit and select students to attend the conference.  Local garden clubs also pay some or all of the conference, lodging, and meal expenses for their selected students.  Students and their families provide transportation to and from the conference and contribute to the conference fee as required by the sponsoring garden club.
