FFGC J-2 YOUTH FLOWER SHOW OR YOUTH SECTION OF AN ADULT STANDARD FLOWER SHOW

SUMMARY KEY*: Besides the minimum number of exhibits required in the Horticulture and/or Design Division, each sponsoring organization must also have the following minimum number of nonHorticulture/non-Design exhibits based on the size of the sponsoring organization. i. One (1) educational exhibit (more educational exhibits permitted) ii. One (1) educational exhibit, and at least one (1) additional educational exhibit, Botanical Arts Division section, or Youth/Sponsored Group Section. iii. One (1) Educational exhibit and at least two (2) of any combination of additional educational exhibits, Botanical Arts Division Sections, or Youth/Sponsored Group iv. FFGC #101 A, B,  NGC 14A Council Standard Flower Show-  

Donors:  A) & B)   FFSJ                                                                                                                                                                                        

A. Council of Garden Clubs Standard Flower Show, sponsored by at least three (3) NGC member clubs belonging to an association, federation, group, circle, etc. and recognized by the State Garden Club. One (1) Educational exhibits and at least two(2) of any combination of additional Educational, Botanical Arts Division sections, or Youth/Sponsored Group.

B. Judges Council or Councils Standard Flower Show. One (1) Educational exhibits and at least two(2) of any combination of additional Educational, Botanical Arts Division sections, or Youth/Sponsored Group.

$50 award for each category is offered. Entries winning FFGC Award will be sent to NGC for consideration of a NGC Rose Rosette. Winning council is not eligible to win this award in consecutive years.

FFGC #102 A, B, C   NGC FS-2 A, B  Holiday Standard Flower Show (Also Available for a Small - Standard Holiday Flower Show)

FFGC #110  NGC FS-7 A,B,C Small Standard Flower Show (updated 12/1/2018)

REQUIREMENT: Flower show may be held in any suitable facility; it must meet all requirements for a Small Standard Flower Show as described in THE HANDBOOK FOR FLOWER SHOWS 2017. It must include an educational exhibit. Referred to rules and requirements as published in THE HANDBOOK FOR FLOWER SHOW SCHOOLS 2017: Awards page 4. It will be evaluated using the scale of points for Small\Standard Flower Show Evaluation as listed on the NGC website:, www.gardenclub.org . 

A. Fewer than 21 members: One (1) Educational exhibit.

B. 21-49 Members One (1) Educational exhibits and at least one additional Educational, Botanical Arts Division sections, or Youth/Sponsored Group.

C. 50-99 members: One (1) Educational exhibits and at least two(2) of any combination of additional Educational, Botanical Arts Division sections, or Youth/Sponsored Group.

Award: An award of $50 will be given to the winner. Winning entry will be send to Deep South for consideration of Deep South Small Standard Flower Show Award. Due to Chair November 30, 2020

FFGC #120 FLOWER SHOW FOCAL AREA AWARD

Donor: Floralia VI, District VIII

Description/Purpose: To encourage the use of focal area to enhance the aesthetic quality of the overall show.

Proof of Accomplishment: Use the FFGC Flower Show Related Awards Application Form (new). 

  • Include the title of the show and a description of the area as well as photographs.
  • Entries judged as to neatness, originality, practicality, aesthetic quality and adherence to theme of show.
  • Provide one (1) copy of Flower Show Schedule.             

Award: Two awards of $25 each may be offered annually to a club, circle, or a group of clubs or circles, for the most effective focal area in a Standard Flower Show, in the following classes:

Class: A or B

Description/Purpose: To stimulate clubs toward progressive staging in both Horticulture and Design Divisions.

Proof of Accomplishment: Use the FFGC Flower Show Related Awards Application Form (new).

  • Application must include a scale drawing of the one staging idea with written specifications and directions on how to duplicate this idea. 
  • Include one or more photographs of this staging method as used in the flower show and an excerpt from the Flower Show Schedule listing the Section/Class in which the staging was included.                                      

Award: Two (2) awards of $25 each may be offered to a club or group of clubs submitting the best single staging idea in Horticulture and/or Design Divisions in the following classes:

Class A or B

            A. Single idea in staging of horticulture

            B. Single idea in staging of design

FFGC #122 NGC STANDARD FLOWER SHOW SCHEDULE

Description/Purpose: To recognize the best completed NGC Flower Show Schedules.

Proof of Accomplishment: Complete the FFGC Flower Show Related Awards Application Form (new) and

  • Submit with three (3) Flower Show Schedules. Attach the application form to one of the schedules. 
  • The winning schedule will be filed at State Headquarters at close of FFGC Convention and will be available upon request. 
  • Applications will be judged using the Scale of Points for Standard Flower Show Schedules as listed on page 132 in the Handbook for Flower Shows, Revised, 2017. 

Award: An award of $50 each (Class A-D) may be offered to an individual club or circle or a group of clubs or circles for the best completed Flower Show Schedule in the following classes:

            A. 10-49 members

            B. 50-99 members

            C. 100-299 members

            D. 300 or more members

FFGC #131 DISH GARDEN   

Donor: Martha Maas in memory of Fred Maas

Description: To recognize the most outstanding dish garden that has won a Grower's Choice Award in a Standard Flower Show during the current year. 

Proof of Accomplishment: Use the FFGC Flower Show Related Awards Application Form (new).

Evidence shall include:

  • two clear, color close-up photographs of dish garden. One photograph should show the dish garden with the ribbon/s won and one photograph should show the dish garden without ribbon/s. 
  • Include a copy of the entry card signed and dated by a member of the judging panel. The entry card or picture should include botanical names and locations for all plants. 
Entries will be judged using the following:

Scale of Points:

Distinction of combination, compatibility of plants and accessories - 45 points

Photographs - 25 points

Entry card or picture showing botanical names & locations for all plants - 25 points

Neatness and clarity of presentation - 5 points

Total: 100 points

FFGC #132 BROMELIAD AWARD

Donor: Stephanie L. Susetka

Description: To recognize the most outstanding bromeliad exhibit that has received an award higher than a blue ribbon in a Standard Flower Show or plant society show during the current year. 

Proof of Accomplishment: Use the FFGC Flower Show Related Awards Application Form (new).

Evidence shall include:

a complete record of the plant's progress and cultivation.

  • Include at two clear, color photographs of bromeliad,  provide 2 pictures - (one without the ribbon(s) and one with the ribbon(s),
  • a copy of the entry card signed and dated by a member of the judging panel
  • and an excerpt from the Flower Show Schedule listing the Section/Class in which display was included.

Scale of Points:

Distinction of plant - 35 points

Description of plant culture - 35 points

Photographs - 20 points

Neatness and clarity of presentation - 10 points

Total: 100 Points

Award: An award of $25 may be offered.
